Forest Stage Camp
All Day Camp
“Where the forest becomes the stage. Create. Play. Perform.” This camp includes big movement and improv based games, making up stories, skits and characters for their own skits at the end of the week, being LOUD and free to express themselves on a “stage”, learning acting basics like voice, expression, and movement, mask/prop/costume making, and performing on the final day. Emilee is a lead music teacher at RVNS. She has a background in early childhood education and is a local choir director.

Let’s Stick Together! Fun with Felting
In this camp, we will learn the basics of the two main kinds of felting: needle felting and wet felting. By using wool fibers and friction, campers will be able to create textiles and functional or art objects. Needle felting can be used to create 2-dimensional “paintings” or 3-dimensional objects such as animals. Wet felting can be used to create useful accessories such as scarves, baskets, and pouches. What you create will be up to you! Ruth is an art teacher at RVNS.

Kindercamp: In der Stadt
A German Immersion Camp
Children will explore Lewisburg with real-world application of German. Along the way we’ll play some games, sing some songs, and practice basic conversational skills to grow our familiarity with German. Krista has over 25 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings and is a lead teacher at RVNS. Enroll in both Embodied Art and Kindercamp for a full-day camp experience!

Embodied Art
This camp will explore the intersections of art and the body with an emphasis on movement and play. Can rest be art? Can jumping be art? What does art look like when it isn’t made with our hands? With short-term projects, embodiment exercises, and reflection practices students are invited to explore how art lives within the body in beautiful ways. Michelle is a teaching assistant at RVNS. Enroll in both Embodied Art and Kindercamp for a full-day camp experience!

Storybook Camp
Each day we will dive into the world of a different children’s storybook author. From Eric Carle to Julia Donaldson, Chris Van Allsburg and more! We will read, explore, create, and snack our way through each storybook adventure filled day! Catie is a teaching assistant at RVNS and a yoga instructor

Forest Immersion: Dragon Camp!
Here Be Dragons! A week filled with storytelling, art, play, and imagination. We will create dragons, dragon habitats, and potions, and make maps and train for a quest. Just maybe, the dragons of Catbird farm will visit us! The forest is filled with magical possibilities! Denise has nearly two decades of experience connecting nature, art, and learning in a homeschool community and is a lead teacher at RVNS.

Let’s Cook!
Do you have a budding foodie? Does your child love to help you cook? In Let's Cook camp, participants will learn basic baking skills, how to bake using ratios, and learn the science behind the foods we cook. By the end of the week, the group is equipped with the skills they need to collaborate and create their own recipe in our own version of a bake off. Elizabeth has over 25 years of teaching experience and is passionate about helping students see math and science in everyday life applications. She also serves as RVNS’s director and lead teacher.

Healthy Minds
This camp will help foster self-awareness in children as they practice mindfulness in nature, learn how to identify and recognize comfortable and uncomfortable feelings, learn about the brain and develop ways to gain greater self-regulation. There will also be time for imaginative and active play in nature, vital for healthy minds. Jen is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with 16 years experience counseling youth and families throughout school, home, agency and private practice settings. She is currently a teaching assistant at River Valley Nature School and offers a Healthy Minds class to the Voyager and Expeditioner groups.

The Art of Construction:
Why buildings stand and sometimes fall
A week of hands-on exploration of architecture, the forces acting on structures, properties of materials, problem solving, and design. We will look at modern and historical buildings, find similarities and inspiration in nature, and end the week with small groups working to solve a model bridge building project. Denise has a degree in architecture and nearly two decades of experience connecting nature, art, and learning in a homeschool community and is RVNS’ lead preschool teacher.

Forest Immersion
In this camp, we will learn tracking skills through games, hikes, and forest play and exploration. We will look for forest friends and create patterns and art with natural materials! This camp is designed to foster a deep appreciation of the natural world and is an excellent way to experience what it is like to be a school-age student at River Valley Nature School. Elizabeth is certified as a Forest School Leader and has over 20 years of teaching experience.
